Dear Opera GR Patrons,
The Board of Directors is prioritizing the safety of the OGR staff, patrons and audience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The staff is working remotely while sheltering-in-place until April 13. We are fortunate that technology allows us to conduct normal operations and run a box office from our homes, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
We are rescheduling our spring events and Productions.
The Collegiate Vocal Competition will occur on Saturday, September 12. OGR’s annual fundraiser, Night with the Opera, will be Wednesday, September 23. We will also be working to reschedule Turandot, which was originally scheduled for May 1 & 2. Because of the complexity of Grand Opera, we have yet to work out all of the details but will be communicating with our patrons soon.
We also want you to continue to enjoy opera while we shelter-in-place. Today, we announce a new four-part web series called Singing-in-Place that will feature emerging artists giving short recitals from their homes. Please enjoy this free resource made available to you every Thursday on our website and social media.
We are so thankful for your support and patience as we work to bring opera to West Michigan. The performing arts have never been as important as they are now, yet the financial burden of postponed/cancelled shows and decrease in fundraising is challenging. Please consider supporting Opera Grand Rapids today with a gift of financial support.
Stay healthy and safe,
Em
