Since 2010, Opera Grand Rapids has been proud to call the nation’s first LEED certified Opera Center its home. Located in on East Fulton, the Betty Van Andel Opera Center is home to the Company’s box office, costume shop, administrative offices, and the Violet Wondergem Rehearsal Hall, where our productions are staged.
The 2.5 Million dollar green facility was named after Betty Van Andel, who was a member of the Opera Grand Rapids Board of Trustees from 1981 to 1990. In 2001, the Jay and Betty Van Andel Foundation awarded Opera Grand Rapids a 1 Million dollar gift to jumpstart the building project.
Today the Betty Van Andel Opera Center hosts a variety of social and educational programs, and is available for rental to the community.
When not in use for the building of our productions, the Betty Van Andel Opera Center is available for rental by groups, organizations, businesses, schools, corporations and individuals.
A great open room, filled with light in an urban setting, the Opera Center is perfect for weddings, receptions, showers, anniversary parties and events.
