Grand Rapids, MI – August 1, 2024 – With the start of the 24/25 Season, Opera Grand Rapids proudly announces the appointment of six new members to its Board of Directors, bringing a wealth of expertise and leadership to the organization. The new members, all prominent figures in their respective fields, share a passion for the arts and a desire to serve. The appointments for the following individuals are effective August 1, 2024:
- Dr. Alejandro Quiroga, MD, MBA, President of Corewell Health West, leads strategy, operations, and clinical oversight for a vast healthcare network in West Michigan. As a practicing pediatric nephrologist and a transformative leader in healthcare, Dr. Quiroga aims to improve community health and well-being. “As an incoming member of the Opera Grand Rapids Board of Directors, I am excited to collaborate with such a distinguished group of individuals and contribute to the ongoing success and vibrant cultural landscape of our community. Together, we will continue to promote the arts and ensure that opera remains an accessible and inspiring experience for everyone,” said Dr. Quiroga.
- Peggy Barber, a real estate agent with Patriot Realty and former commercial insurance professional, has been actively involved with Opera Grand Rapids for nearly a decade. “I discovered my love of opera at the Chicago Lyric in the 90s. When I returned to Michigan, I was not even aware Opera Grand Rapids existed!” said Barber. “I have since been pleasantly surprised by the quality and creativity of OGR productions, and am proud to have supported them through my involvement with Friends of the Opera for the last 9+ years.”
- Matthew Crowe, a Partner at Warner Norcross + Judd, specializes in corporate and M&A law. His commitment to Opera Grand Rapids is echoed by his firm’s support. “Not only does Warner financially support the great work of Opera Grand Rapids, but we are thrilled to have Warner Partner Matt Crowe leading by example and joining the board of this esteemed arts institution. His involvement is a testament to Warner’s ongoing commitment to Opera Grand Rapids, dedicating our time, talent, and resources,” said Mark Wassink, Managing Partner at Warner Norcross + Judd LLP.
- Bradley Wisk, a classical-crossover artist and luxury real estate specialist at Keller Williams Luxury International, combines his passion for art and business. With a mission to bring mainstream audiences back to and beyond classical music, Bradley has performed a diverse repertoire and leverages his musical background to market luxury properties. Bradley is anticipated to appear in performance roles for Opera Grand Rapids in the coming seasons.
- Jim O’Connor, Vice President and Corporate Compliance Officer at Steelcase, Inc., brings extensive experience in corporate and litigation work, with a focus on international legal groups and compliance. His background includes Marine Corps service and in-house legal expertise at Steelcase. Jim served on the OGR board in previous years and is pleased to return for another term this season.
- Kevin Clay, President and CEO of Pridgeon & Clay, leads a third-generation family-owned stamping company in Grand Rapids. With a strong background in sales, product development, and early childhood education advocacy, he brings a diverse skill set to the board. “I am thrilled to join the board of Opera Grand Rapids and support an organization that brings so much joy and inspiration to our community. I look forward to working with my fellow board members to advance the mission of Opera Grand Rapids,” said Clay.
